Zedlen gave a lecture of truly experience and memories of life in Mongolia, led the students to get to know more deeply about the distant Mongolian culture and atmosphere, which is what is so called:” the Mongolian culture that the teacher didn’t tell you”.
During the lecture, Zedlen shared the experience with students in English only, which allowed students to be used to getting foreign language lectures, and also interact with students in Chinese sometimes, the whole lecture was vivid, lively, and entertained. The lecturer brought raw milk cake, Mongolian dolls, and charm specially from hometown as well, not only brought up students’ interests and learning motivation, but also created an opportunity for two-way interaction and communication, and even stayed after the lecture and kept sharing and discussing similarities and differences between Taiwanese and Mongolian culture.
2. Iraqi Cultural Lecture
-
To enrich NUTN students’ international perspective, the center had a special invitation to foreign exchange students, Hammad, who study Master degree in Department of Business and Management, in this event, who introduced and shared his hometown culture. Generally speaking, people’s impression about Iraq is lots of wars or geographically and politically issues. But Hammad led the students to take a look at Iraqi culture from a new point of view, with a unique vision and perspective.
During the lecture, the lecturer didn’t specifically emphasize which country exactly Kurds belonged to, but focused on traditions, sceneries, and food etc. related culture, which allowed students to get more understanding of the hometown of the lecturer, and not being out of the focus and fell into the loop of choosing side for political standpoint. The students were often asked to ask question by the lecturer, forming a two-way interaction and discussion, and also built a communication between Iraqi and Taiwanese culture, practically realized the spirit of “cross-domain”.
