In order to improve students' English ability, the International Affairs Office of National University of Tainan carried out the deep cultivation program of higher education and held two series of lectures on English functions on April 12 and 26 to help students face the challenges of foreign language learning and improve their language expression ability. The topics of the lectures are "Nine Functional Stars-Knowing Your Potential Functions" and "TOEIC Multi-beneficial English Examination Counseling", which provide students with multi-disciplinary English learning suggestions and improve their English ability in the future.
In the first lecture, teacher Jian Hong Yu, a professional researcher of 1111 Human Bank, was invited to let students know their suitable development fields and directions in the future by analyzing nine functional stars. In the lecture, teacher Jian also mentioned the differences between local and foreign enterprises, so that students can understand that job opportunities in multinational enterprises can effectively increase their job-hunting competitiveness by obtaining foreign language certification certificates.
In the second lecture, the theme was English test preparation skills, and teacher Kang Ya Zhen, who has been guiding multi-benefit counseling courses for many years, was invited to share the essentials of preparing for English licenses. Teacher Kang is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Foreign Languages of the National Cheng Kung University. She encouraged students to obtain relevant English proficiency certificates at the school stage by explaining various examination skills and self-study resources, so that they can smoothly enter the workplace after graduation.
Huang Yan Zhang, director of the Language Center of OIA, said that in the face of the wave of globalization, students from different departments must also have different preparation directions for their future workplace and English ability. Hope that by holding lectures, students can understand the application of English in various industries in addition to their own professional fields, and find opportunities that are in line with their own values and career development.
Hu Jia Sheng, director of OIA, said that in recent years, colleges and universities have actively cooperated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to handle related activities, and promoted important social issues such as education, environment and economy in the form of practicing university social responsibility, hoping to strengthen the employment function of students, give play to the social influence of universities, and improve young students' sense of responsibility to society and international competitiveness.
